Scout Camps
Scout owned camps are great places to learn scout skills and merit badges. They are also GREAT places to start or end your high adventure trip. They are near wilderness, have great parking, showers, inexpensive, and will work with you on your needs.

Theme Trips
There are many theme trips already described in the award section: John Muir Trail, Peakbaggers, Historic Trails; just to name a few. You can create your own, Lowest to Highest (Death Valley to Whitney), Biggest & Oldest (Sequoias to Bristelcones), Tallest (14,000+ ft elevation peaks, there's 15 in Calif), be creative. Ask the scouts to dream up ideas.

Awards
Many of the scouts enjoy the reward of a patch after an adventure. The HAT awards require carefull planning to ensure full compliance with the award criteria. Use the awards from other councils as ideas for trips. Be sure to inquire about the award availability and criteria before starting the adventure. High Adventure Application

Scout advancement and merit badges can be incorporated into adventure activities, in fact they can be a starting point for building skills.
