 The objectives are:
- to acquaint you with a basic understanding of how to plan and conduct outdoor activities
- to stimulate your participation and leadership in a High Adventure Program at the unit level
- to inform you of the many programs and activities of the LAAC HAT

The training provides an overview of the basics: leadership, planning& preparation, equipment & clothing, menus & cooking, mountain navigation & travel, conservation, risk & safety, andprogram awards & procedures- the necessities for safe adnenjoyable outings. This is the next step beyond campcraft skills that are coveredin Outdoor Leadership Skills (OLS)

 Cross Country Skiing  Skiing- who could possibly resist its alure? Crosscountry skiing, the simplestand least expensive form, is a terrific unit activity. Enjoy the challenge of this healthy winter sport with confidence in your having recieved quality instruction in corsscounty ski techniques and safety from a member of the US Ski Patrol. The objectives of this training are to introduce the adult Scouter to it and to promote it as a part of a Units winter outdoor program.

Junior Leader Backpack  Camping and Hiking are fun: developing the skills and learning safe andcourteous practices are a cecessary part of these activities. This most effectectively occurs when it is the junior leadership in the Unit that provides the instruction.
The objectives are:
- to acquaint you with a basic understanding of how to plan and conduct outdoor activities
- to stimulate your participation and leadership in a High Adventure Program at the unit level
- to inform you of the many programs and activities of the LAAC HAT

 
 High Adventure Leader  This patch is earned by completing the classes marked with an *
  High Adventure Leadership Skills * Leadership skills training is a one-day workshop for Scouters who have taken the outdoor training programs conducted by the LAAC District Training staffs and by the High Adventure Team and who desire to increase their ability to identify and deal with unexpected incidents in the backcountry. The emphasis is on discussing those skills and actions that are necessary to conducting safe and enjoyable outdoor activities. Persons completing this training should have greater confidence in their ability to lead a High Adventure Program.

 3240 First Aid Basics
First Aid Basics is a dynamic, efficient, and effective course for those who want first aid training without the CPR component. This course covers:

* bleeding
* muscle and bone injuries
* sudden illness
* checking an unconscious victim
* shock
* poisoning
* heat and cold emergencies
* calling 9-1-1
* and much more!

Course Length: 4 hours
Prerequisite: none
Certificate: Adult 1st Aid Skills (two years)

 CPR  3241 Adult CPR with AED Skills
Along with learning and practicing adult CPR, rescue breathing, choking rescue, use of the EMS system and how to prevent heart disease, students will received training in the used of Automated External Defibrillation

Course Length: 4.5 hours
Prerequisite: None
Certificate: Adult CPR/AED Skills (one year)
